During the Gala of the Dutch Theatre at the Dutch Theatre Festival in ITA the 2024 VSCD Theatre Awards were presented, including the Theo d’Ors, the Mime/Performance Award and the Golden Crickets.
The winner of the Mime/Performance Prize 2024 is: HUNTER , played and directed by Courtney May Robertson.
From the jury report : “Courtney May Robertson previously proved herself as a gifted performer and now also shows herself in ‘HUNTER’ as a very outspoken and challenging maker. In a dark ritual, a duo – one of flesh and blood, the other of foam and silicone – performs precise movements and careful actions. To the hypnotic sound design of Acidic Male, Robertson lets the audience navigate between disgust and fascination. She draws virtuously from various idioms such as mime, krumping, dance and puppetry. In the final scene, the beautiful lighting and set design by Manuel Boutreur, together with Robertson’s surrender, bring the audience to an overwhelming catharsis.”
